Argos Website

Argos UK Website

Background

The Argos UK website required designs for the App and mobile layouts. The website itself was quite complex to maintain due to features being added to the existing site over time.

Challenges

The website was updated weekly which required rapid content creation and the need to be responsive to any immediate issues that arose.

The existing website was quite an old framework in the back end which created additional challenges for the developers.

Solution

Solutions varied from page to page. Most of my role was updating paid for promotional features and pages and updating aspects of the homepage weekly.

I also worked closely with the UX team designing feature pages that would have certain themes. Such as film and game trailers based on specific business requirements and branding.

Design Process & Deliverables

Content generation

The content was supplied in a spreadsheet and any photography required was provided by the supplier or had to be sourced from the internal system. Turnaround for designs would sometimes be extremely tight and required in a matter of days or even hours.

Themed pages and content framework

Design themes and requirements for the page would need to be created based on a brief. This theme and visual styling would then carry into all content and banners. The structure would be created based on dims used in existing components and considering paid for adverts and priority products.

Homepage

The Homepage weekly brief would be based on a range of requirements, such as any promotional offers, paid for adverts and rotations of designs to improve traffic to different pages.

The structure itself was very modular so most updates would be to a specific banner or component.
